VTech (abbreviation for Video Technology Ltd), is a Hong Kong-based company that was founded in 1976 by Allan Wong and Stephen Leung. The Company name was chosen in relation to its founding product of home video game consoles. By the early 1980s, they launched its first electronic learning product, called Lesson One, at the New York Toy Fair, which taught children basic spelling and maths. They were pioneers in harnessing technology to educate children through their toys. In 1986, VTech became a publicly traded company on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and continued to grow and diversify its product lines. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, VTech became a leader in the children's electronics market, producing innovative educational toys and games.
